HL7 stands for Health Level 7 and is an international communications standard for IT systems in health care. It is aimed at the standardization of interoperability between IT systems and at improving it. In contrast to the DICOM standard via HL7 primarily text data within medical and administrative processes can be exchanged.
The consistent use of HL7 to ensure vendor independent system integration is also an essential part of the IHE initiative. In principle VISUS is open with its products and solutions for the vendor independent connectivity and integration. Therefore VISUS actively supports the development of communication standards.
Because of the complexity of HL7 interfaces, it is useful to review in advance of an investment decision the actual supported interfaces of all relevant providers.
