Workflow support und assessment support

JiveX Diagnostic Mammo

The interoperability of the JiveX Diagnostic Mammo Client is exceptional, and it may be tied into the present IT architecture via open interfaces – not only into HIS and RIS solutions, but also third-party mammography information systems (MIS).

Routine work steps in the diagnosis are then automated using hanging protocols, which have been created and programmed under the guidanceof a wide range of experienced diagnosticians. The hanging protocols may also be customized to the working user interface. In addition, the various hanging protocols may be concatenated to a full-fledged
assessment workflow.

JiveX Diagnostic Mammo

The main support for the diagnostic process takes place via automatic preloading of previous studies and their standardized on-screen display. In this way, the physician can perform the diagnosis reliably and quickly. In so doing, he/she is aided by the versatile image processing options, such as zooming, grayscale windowing, brightness and contrast adjustments, and inversion. Integrating computer-aided detection systems (CAD) can support the workflow even further. To maximize the ergonomics, the JiveX Mammo Client may be controlled via both the keyboard and an accessory keypad.

Functional Highlights

Mammo-Shutter

The shutter function optimizes breast imaging in several ways. It detects the breast and fully displays it on the monitor, gates the black part irrelevant for assessment, and thereby offers several benefits. On the one hand, it permits 1:1 visualization, i.e., displaying on the high-resolution monitor all pixels generated by the modality. If such a 1:1 visualization is too large for the monitor display, the image is automatically sectioned into several quadrants, thus allowing exact and safe scanning of each area. In addition, the height of both breasts is adjusted automatically, thus compensating for positional differences during imaging.

Mirroring and distance measurements

In follow-up studies the precise comparison of the current images with those of previous examinations plays an important role. In order to facilitate this difficult task for the diagnostician, JiveX Diagnostic Mammo Client permits mirroring of new and previous studies. Another helpful option in image assessment is the automated distance measurement between the lesion and the mamilla, which is marked automatically.

Projection line and magnifier

In order to easily and quickly view the region of interest relevant for assessment, a marker may be placed which appears as projection line in the other plane. This way, the lesion marked on the first image can be called up safely and automatically in the second image. The size of the window may be adapted with the magnifying function. It allows easy windowing, zooming, and inversion. When working with two high-resolution monitors, the magnifier may simply be shifted, together with its settings, from one monitor to the other.
