10 years Medicor-VISUS partnership
Ten years ago, MMS Medicor Medical Supply, specialist for breast cancer diagnostic equipment, and VISUS pooled their know-how to advance early and precise breast cancer diagnosis. Medicor, exclusive Hologic sales partner in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, offers high-end mammography and tomosynthesis scanners which require an equally high-end PACS. This is where VISUS JiveX Mammography comes in – a system that provides excellent process support both in screening and therapy.
Heinz Gerhards, Managing Director of Medicor, recognized early on that system-specific PACS contribute little to process optimization in a healthcare environment. What is needed, he says, are “interoperable and flexible IT solutions that easily adapt to the unique conditions and workflows in each facility. It is crucial for the data to be available throughout the facility and even across facilities. This is why we looked for a partner whose PACS on the one hand offers the high-level functionality required in breast diagnostics and on the other hand integrates seamlessly in different screening scenarios. Ten years ago we did find somebody who fits the bill: VISUS. And we have been expanding our cooperation ever since.”
What exactly does this partnership look like? Medicor included JiveX Mammography in its portfolio for customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Thus, the company which is based in Kerpen near Cologne, complements the VISUS sales efforts in Germany and opened new sales channels in Austria and Switzerland. “In Germany, we were well positioned with our mammography product, but the cooperation with Medicor allowed us to take the advantages of JiveX Mammography across the border,” explains Rudolf Heupel, Head of Sales at VISUS.
The advantages are above all breast diagnostics-specific functionality such as mirroring, distance measurements, zoom or individually configurable hanging protocols. Another big plus of the VISUS solution is excellent interoperability, as Steffi Groes, Head of Sales at Medicor, underlines: “JiveX Mammography integrates easily in IT architectures – not only in HIS and RIS solutions but also in third-party mammography information systems. That is a major benefit for our customers.”

Due to its vendor- and system-neutral approach VISUS was able to respond quickly to the success of tomosynthesis in breast diagnostics: The Bochum company pioneered PACS that can manage 3D data and make them accessible across the facility, no matter where the data originated. This innovation turned out to be enormously beneficial in breast diagnostics.
The partnership of the two SMEs has developed over the course of the years and in 2013 Medicor joined the elite group of JiveX sales partners in Austria and Switzerland that offer the complete product family.
